Casa Cuevas reopened its doors Saturday, July 25, in Anderson after replacing most of its kitchen equipment, booths and photographs on the walls, according to husband-and-wife co-owners Carlos Cuevas and Leticia Ramos.

The restaurant, formerly Casa Ramos, shut down for almost a month for the removal of property caused by the liquidation of the company Ramos and Cuevas Ventures, LLC., sixty percent of which was owned by Leticia Ramos' brother, Marco Ramos, Leticia Ramos said.

To reopen Casa Cuevas, the new owners replaced nearly all of the kitchen equipment including a walk-in cooler and freezer, stove and range hood in about a three-week span, Leticia Ramos said.

"We were here everyday working - the contractor, too," she said.

With about 33 years of restaurant management experience between them, Cuevas and Leticia Ramos have employees that they have worked with for ten years. Unemployment rates in the county also played a part in their decision.

"There are no jobs in this economy," Leticia Ramos said. "It's easier to start over here."

The couple is also considering expanding with a second restaurant in a couple years, Leticia Ramos said.
