The Anderson maurices, located in the Shasta Outlets shopping center, celebrated its first anniversary in July by donating $500 to the Good News Rescue Mission in Redding.
Ken White, director of community relations for the mission, accepted the check from store manager Chelsea Baker on July 13 during a brief 10 a.m. ceremony at the store.
Established in 1931, maurices is a leading national specialty retail store catering to savvy, fashion-conscious customers with a 20-something attitude.
The clothing and fashion accessories chain is owned by dressbarn, inc., which operates 700 stores in 44 states, according to a press release issued by Baker.
"We believe in giving back to the communities we are a part of."
The store's own customers determined which of several charities would receive the award by casting ballots during June, she said.
"The organization that received the most nominations was Good News Rescue Mission," Baker declared.
