The Anderson Aquagators won its fourth straight seasonal North Valley Aquatic League team title with 1,577 points, more than twice as many as the next-best team. Instead, the race was for second with the Red Bluff Tritons scoring 704 points to edge past the Orland Otters (691.5) and the Weaverville Swim Team (680).
"It's such wonderful news for the kids. They've worked so hard all season for it," Aquagators head coach Marc Soares said. "We had a lot of kids go to the meet. We had more kids doing two-a-day workouts this year than ever, so we got faster."
The Aquagators are comprised of swimmers who usually go in the summer, while other clubs such as the Aqua-Jets, the Redding Swim Team and SOAR feature both seasonal and swimmers who compete year-round.
Anderson came away with several winners in the seasonal ranks.
Matt Bohlin won the boys 15-16 age group after winning in the 200 free (1:59.96) to cap a strong meet.
Kayla Spratt finished second to Weaverville's Sarah Quaid in the girls 11-12 age group. She won the 200 free (2:26.67) and the 50 free (28.93).
Ashley and Tayler Moebes finished 1-2 in the girls 15-16 age group. Ashley won the 200 free (2:14.69) and the 100 breast (1:11.83).
Anderson's Sean Jordan won the boys 11-12 50 breast (41.28) and the 50 free (30.10) and finished second in his age group.
