Barbara Preston awoke early Friday morning to find two alleged burglars in her apartment on Red Bud Lane in Anderson, whereupon she called police at 1:49 a.m., according to the Anderson Police Department.

Officers arrived after the two suspects fled, but APD Officer Bryan Benson spotted Harley James Epperson fleeing the area. After a brief foot pursuit, Benson caught Epperson, who was later identified by Preston as the taller of the two suspects in her home.

Epperson was booked for residential burglary. The APD was still searching for the second suspect as of 8 a.m. Friday. Preston could not offer a description of the second suspect, APD Chief Dale Webb said.
