The 5K run previously named the Salmon Run has been renamed in honor of John Lipsey, who passed away in March. The 1st annual John Lipsey Memorial 5K, then, is scheduled for Sept. 12.
John Lipsey was a committed coach who demonstrated a huge love for kids and athletics. The tireless hours and contributions he gave to the youth in our community are greatly missed. His wife Sandy, continues to train and travel with runners in the area maintaining the standards of hard work and dedication to improve. With her support, we have changed the September 12th, 2009 event to the John Lipsey Memorial 5K.
The race begins Saturday, 8 a.m., at North Cottonwood Elementary School, 19920 Gas Point Rd.
Entry fee is $18 before Sept. 1, $20 afterward for those 18 and older. Student fee is $8 before Sept. 1 and $10 afterward.
