Broadway comes to Redding stage

Jam Theatricals and U.S. Bank are teaming up again this year to bring five Broadway quality plays to the Redding Convention Center.

The 2009-2010 season of the U.S. Bank Presents Broadway at the Redding Convention Center will be highlighted by an all new spectacle of unbelievable feats Cirque Dreams Illumination on Wednesday, Oct. 21 and iconic family favorite The Wizard of Oz, presented Monday, May 10, 2010.

The season also includes The Wedding Singer, a rockin' new musical that pays homage to the 1980s, presented Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010; Avenue Q, a risque new musical about puppets and people surviving in New York City with big dreams and tiny bank accounts, scheduled for Monday, Feb. 22, 2010; and The Drowsy Chaperone, a glamorous Tony-award winning new musical comedy about a celebrity bride and her biggest fan, set for Wednesday, March 24, 2010.

All shows start at 7:30 p.m.

"Jam Theatricals takes great pride in having the opportunity to bring top quality Broadway productions to Redding," says Steve Traxler, president of Jam Theatricals.

"Our mission is to enrich the communities we serve, feed the creative spirit and most importantly, bring the best touring Broadway entertainment. This is our ninth season in Redding, and we are thrilled to bring with it some of Broadway's newest hits, combined with classics that first inspired us to support the arts," Traxler continued.

Jam Theatricals, a Chicago-based entertainment company, was founded in 1997 and manages subscription seasons in more than 30 cities.

Subscriptions to this stunning season are on sale now, said company publicist Kasey Bersett.

Prices range from $110 to $255 depending on the series and seating choice, Bersett said.

A four-show Classic Subscription Series includes The Wedding Singer, Avenue Q, The Drowsy Chaperone and The Wizard of Oz.

The five-show Premiere Series includes all of four shows in the Classic Subscription Series as well as the Cirque Dreams Illumination.

Orders from continuing subscribers will be processed before new subscriber orders, which will be processed in the order they are received, Bersett said.

Subscriber benefits include guaranteed same great seats to all season shows, as well as the chance to renew those seats from year to year. Subscribers also receive additional ticket discounts and the chance to purchase tickets to added shows before the general public, she added.

Tickets are received by mail to avoid box office lines and lost ticket insurance is included at no charge.

Only subscription sales are available at this time.Tickets for individual shows will go on sale as each performance date approaches. All remaining seats are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
