The Cottonwood Community Library has been visited all summer by various animals. A recent visit to storytime brought Tinkerbelle, a miniature horse, and her owner Barbara Cogle, owner of Cogle Ranch in Shasta.

Tinkerbelle delightfully lived up to her name. She arrived for her debut at the library complete with sparkly "toenail" polish on her hooves and glitter in her mane. All the young girls in attendance were quite impressed and were anxious to take a closer look!

After hearing stories and singing farm animal songs in the library, the children took turns petting Tinkerbelle outside. Tinkerbelle was very cooperative and patient, letting each and every child take a turn. Cogle explained that Tinkerbelle is usually very docile and well-behaved around people.

One young buckaroo, Tucker Dunlap, made a special point of wearing his John Deere cowboy boots just for the occasion. Tinkerbelle seemed to appreciate his sense of style because she was cooperative in giving him a quick nuzzle for his efforts.

"The library is so fortunate to have such willing people in the community come to share their time and talents with various animals," said Gayle Harrington, Director of Library Services.

"For many of these children, it is their first time at seeing some of these animals," Harrington said.

Story time will return to the Cottonwood Community Library on Sept. 9.
