Zach Gibbins has been very successful in his football career, first at Anderson Union High School - he graduated in 2007 - and now while playing as an inside linebacker for the Shasta College Knights.
In high school, he made the All-State Team in 2006 as a linebacker. He was also the league and division MVP, was captain of the football team and was the 2007 Athlete of the Year.
He took a year off from football in 2007 and played baseball for Simpson College. During the 2008 season for the Knights, Gibbins was the All Region I Defensive Player of the Year and is currently captain of the team.
"Playing baseball at Simpson really made me realize how much I missed football and helped me figure out what I wanted to do," said Gibbins.
He is currently enrolled in classes at Shasta College and plans on getting an associate of science degree in social science. With plans to continue his education at either University of Arizona or Colorado University, Boulder, with the goal of getting his bachelor of science in engineering. He has not decided on which college to attend, but does plan on transferring mid-semester.
"My mom has been very supportive of me and my football career. Whatever college I go to, she'll support my decision," said Gibbins.
