Pre-season football is ongoing and Anderson Union High School's varsity team played Friday night, June 21, against the Shasta High School Wolves.

Both teams played hard and had a strong showing.

"I'm pleased with the effort our boys showed," said AUHS Head Coach Lance Gosch. "We have some places we need to work on, but overall I'm pleased with the effort."

Linebacker Mo Hursey had a strong showing as well. The offensive and defensive lines played well together as a group. According to Coach Gosch, if both the offensive and defensive lines continue to improve, they will be a huge strength for the team going into the season.

"We need to continue to work on fundamentals. We have the right guys in the right positions, but we need to work on technique," said Gosch.

The Varsity Cubs are two weeks away from their first regular season game with Las Plumas, and while they've started out strong, fixing the little things will be the key to winning this season, Gosch said.
