Emergency personnel evacuated an unidentified 61-year-old man trapped in his wrecked, overturned white pick-up truck on Churn Creek Road at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday during steady rainfall. CHP Officer Bronson reported the man smelled of alcohol and was suspected for DUI.

The victim, moaning loudly while secured to a stretcher, was transported to Mercy Medical Center in Redding on trauma alert, which according to CalFire Captain Brian Gibilisco, notifies the hospital that a patient will be arriving "in bad shape."

According to bystander Daren Seaters, the victim of the accident resides on Weeks Lane in Redding.

When will people learn, driving under the influence KILLS. I have lost 3 people who I cared about to drunk drivers.

I couldn't agree with you more. My thoughts exactly. They won't learn until they end up with a loved one killed by another drunk driver. BTW: I'm not following you, it appears we are the only 2 people reading the paper this evening.
