Wreaths Across America

GRAVE DECOR - Nearly 200 Shasta County residents turned out at noon Saturday, Dec. 12, to decorate more than 900 grave markers and memorials at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery. As part of the 18th annual Wreaths Across America program, the third annual grave decoration locally decorated more than 400 state and national cemeteries nationwide and 24 national cemeteries on foreign soil with 151,000 holiday wreaths. Originally started in 1992 by Morrill Worcester Wreath Co., the idea has now spread to a worldwide effort to honor veterans and their surviving family members and to teach young people patriotism and the honor of military service.
