West Valley boys basketball team dominated over the weekend at the 51st annual Anderson Invitational basketball tournament, sweeping their games to take first place in the event.
The Eagles started the tournament with a win over Etna on Thursday. West Valley took an early lead and led by two going into the half. However, once the third period started the Eagles started to grow their lead.
West Valley went on to beat Etna 54-38. Next the Eagles would play the Alhambra Bulldogs of Martinez on Friday evening.
The Bulldogs put up a fight against the Eagles, but it would be West Valley who would control the game. While Alhambra battled for the win, the Eagles soared their way to a 55-42 victory against the Bulldogs and a spot in the championship game.
West Valley met up with Lassen Saturday evening to see who was going to win the tournament. The Eagles came out hot and rolled over the Grizzles, who seemed to play flat.
West Valley built upon the momentum they had going in the half and put even more distance between themselves and Lassen. The Eagles easily flew to a 75-28 win over the Grizzlies to place first in the Anderson tournament.
