Eagles defeat the Warriors 45-42 at Hornet Classic

West Valley’s varsity boys basketball team went toe to toe yesterday afternoon against Del Norte at the 14th Annual Jamie Angley Hornet Classic and came out on top. The Eagles victory over the Warriors wasn’t decided until the final few minutes of the game, when West Valley was able to take a 45-42 lead and hold off Del Norte for the win.

The Eagle were down most of the second half, but never gave up. They fought their way back after being down eight points in the third quarter, to knock down defict to two points in the fourth. From there, West Valley and Del Norte exchanged the lead a couple of time, before the Eagles finally gained control of the game and set the pace in the final minutes of the game.

Senior Tyler Stevenson had 15 points for the Eagles, teammate Russell Flower had 13 points and Casey Duenas had eight.

West Valley will play against Foothill at 3:30 p.m. today in the consolation game.
