Anderson Cubs soccer coach Susan Romero has been coaching Anderson soccer for the past 19 years.

This will be her 22 year coaching the sport. Romero has 22 girls on her team with four returning seniors. These young ladies are Erica Lopez, Megan Ball, Laurie Loomis and Jasmin Silva. Other Seniors on the team are Goalie Kristi Koehn and Chyenne Brooks.

Romero's team is young, but the greatest strength that she sees in her players is that they have a lot of heart.

"This season, I would like to see the girls play hard and have fun," said Romero.

Through out the season, Romero has worked on many different skills with her players and through it all, hopes that they will take with them away from the season, "a few wins and the knowledge that soccer is important but at the end of the day win or lose, it is only a game and that it is what you learn from the experience that counts."

Growing up in Fort Dodge, Iowa and continuing on to college at Concordia University in Seward Nebraska, soccer was not a sport that was played in school until after Romero had graduated. She holds a "C" level license that allows her to coach high school soccer but also has her "National D," coaching license which allows for more opportunity to coach the sport at a higher level.

Romero is also a teacher at Anderson high school she teaches Dance and English.

Besides coaching for Anderson High School, Romero has also coached at Pacheco Middle School and for the Anderson Youth Soccer League as a Division 3 competitive coach.
