Marjorie Butler

Marjorie Butler, 85, of Anderson died Sunday at A Touch of Home in Redding. Arrangements are pending at Forrest Funeral Home in Weaverville (623-4144).

James M. "Doc" Reifert

James M. "Doc" Reifert, 84, of Cottonwood passed away on January 29, 2009. He was born on May 12, 1924 in St. Paul, Min. to Ethel and Ralph Reifert. James lived in Cottonwood for 44 years where he was known to everyone as Doc. He was a Veteran of the Marines and the Navy Reserves and he practiced medicine for 42 years.

James was preceded in death by his wife Mary, of 56 years, daughter Helen, and brothers Charles and Fred Reifert. He is surviv ed by his sister AnnaLou Weiss; nine children Aileen Gustafson, James Reifert, Louise McLendon, Charles Reifert, Dennis Reifert, Tom Reifert, Fred Reifert. Marie Cain, and Mary Cheek; 17 grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren; and many friends from church and the community.

James was an avid reader which led him to establishing Cottonwood Library as a nonprofit organization. To honor his passion for reading, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Cottonwood Library at P.O.Box 1807 Cottonwood CA 96022.

The rosary and viewing will be at Sacred Heart Anderson Church on Wednesday February 4, 2009 at 7 p.m. The funeral will be on Thursday February 5, 2009 at 11 a.m. with a luncheon to follow at Sacred Heart Church. The graveside memorial will be on Thursday February 5th at 3 p.m. at Cottonwood Cemetery.

James Merril Thomas

James Merril Thomas, 65, of Cottonwood died Monday at Mercy Medical Center in Redding. Arrangements are pending at Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel in Anderson (365-5466).
