Special Opportunity Funding allows First 5 Shasta to assist local organizations and community groups with one time project funding. The First 5 Shasta Strategic Plan directs up to 7% of annual revenues to special project opportunities serving children, prenatal-to-five-years of age, and their families. Only projects and community-based activities serving young children and their families will be selected for funding. They must relate to the aims of the First 5 Shasta vision, mission, goals and objectives.
Grants from $5000 to $20,000 are available.
A total of $40,000 is available for each competitive funding round. Individual requests for funding may range from $5,000 to $20,000. An organization or community group may make one request for funding per competitive round.
The first step toward requesting funding is to discuss project ideas with First 5 Shasta's executive director, 530-229-8300.
The application deadline for spring proposals is March 6, 2009.
Additionally, a total of $5,000 is available per fiscal year for small "Good Neighbor" awards. Funds are awarded at the discretion of First 5 Shasta's executive director. To discuss projects that may be enhanced by a Good Neighbor award, call 530-229-8300 or toll free 866-889-8300.
