Brian Douglas Reed, 37, of Anderson, was found guilty by a Shasta County jury Feb. 4 on 35 counts of petty theft with a prior theft-related conviction, two counts of unauthorized use of personal identification to obtain credit, and one count of the fraudulent use of an access card.
Reed obtained two Citibank credit cards using the personal information of a stranger. From Oct. 11 to Oct. 14, the defendant used those credit cards to make 35 purchases in Shasta County.
The purchases ended when Reed was arrested by APD officer Robert Modin on Oct. 14.
Reed testified that he also obtained food stamps fraudulently using another person's identification.
Reed chose to represent himself during trial. His sentencing was scheduled for Apr. 10.
