The Cubs continue to cruise in the top spot, thanks to their latest win at Central Valley on Friday.
Cubs strategy against the Falcons concentrates on holding power play Luke Cassedy in check. They did this much better than their last match against the Falcons in January, Newman said.
"He (Cassedy) didn't score until six minutes to go in the second quarter. That is really important to us to not let him get off big time. He puts up thirty quite often," the coach said.
Cassedy managed to score 20 on the Cubs on Friday, but by the time Cassedy got hot, the Cubs already had a good lead.
Garret McCurdy scored a whopping 23 points for Anderson, while teammates Zach Gubergia had 12 and Randy Bunyard made 10. Bunyard also led the team with 10 rebounds.
Cubs coach Larry Newman noted senior Jordan Taylors' defensive play.
"He did a marvelous job tonight defensively," Newman said. "He always works hard, but he really executed the defense well."
As the season progresses, the Cubs continue to improve the way they work as a team. Instead of one or two players taking the spotlight, they are all working together with success.
"Early in the year we had some senior players that didn't know their teammates and didn't necessarily trust them," Cubs coach Larry Newman said. "The other teammates have come a long way, so people trust now them, they are getting the ball and coming through."
The Cubs have two more road games before the playoffs. Their first will be against Lassen.
"They are a team that puts up a lot of 3-pointers and if they get hot, it could be very difficult for us," Newman said.
Then, the Cubs will hit the road against Yreka for the last game of the season.
Although playing on the road can be trying, Coach Newman is confident that if his teams keep it together, they can capture both wins.
"We have enough weapons and enough talent that if we play well, they will have a hard time staying with us," coach Newman said. "Then we will get to the playoffs and see what happens."
