The West Valley Eagles boys and girls soccer teams found victory on Thursday, Feb. 19 in the first round of playoffs . The boys were victorious over Anderson (4-0), while the girls shut down Corning (3-0).

Both the West Valley and Anderson Cubs boys soccer teams wanted to prove they were tough enough to win the first round to go on to play next week.

Anderson Cub's senior Skyler Walker, who has missed part of the season due to injury, was out playing with full force along with the rest of his teammates, making it a challenge for the Eagles to score.

But the Eagles were able to overcome the powerful Cubs offense. The West Valley athletes that who scored were Ray Close and Jorge Partida.

The Eagles boys will be playing against Corning next week in the second round of playoffs.

West Valley girls

In the second half, Tigger McNeely and Paige Kelly sealed the game with the last two goals. The Lady Eagles played Lassen on Tuesday Feb. 24 in their second round of the playoffs.
