Free community concert at North Cottonwood School

The Vanguard University Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble is scheduled to perform a free concert Mar. 14, 7 p.m., in the multipurpose room at North Cottonwood School, 19920 Gas Point Rd. in Cottonwood.

Under the leadership of Dr. Kenneth Foerch, the Vanguard university music ensembles have long been noted for their inspiring and excellent presentation of sacred and instrumental music, including classical, sacred and secular hits from theater and film, praise and worship, contemporary Christian and jazz arrangements.

The 48 members of the University Concert Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble are selected from over 2,200 member student body and are representative of over 40 academic majors offered at Vanguard University.

Although a large number of the students at Vanguard University are from the state of California, many come from the other 49 states in the United States, as well as several international countries, including Guam, Romania, Sweden, the People's Republic of China and South Korea.

The event is sponsored by Cottonwood Assembly of God Church.
