New Tech February round-up

It's been an active month for Anderson New Technology High School.

New Tech Sober Grad will be having a fundraiser on Saturday, May 9, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. in the school's parking lot. This event includes food sales, a car wash, and a rummage sale. This fundraiser will help keep students safe while having fun on the night of graduation.

Along with this fundraiser, New Tech students are thrilled to hear that Shasta College has donated $500 to Sober Grad. The Seniors truly deserve it because they have been working very hard to make the proper preparations for college. One hundred percent of our seniors applied for entrance to college.

On April 26, students will be leaving for a trip to Catalina Island Marine Institute for an exciting adventure. Catalina is a beautiful place and will serve as an excellent experience for anybody who has an interest in science or who just loves the outdoors.

New Tech's mock trial team will be competing in Departments One and Two of the John Balma Justice Center on the morning of Feb. 21 at 8 a.m. Mrs. Gwaltney has started a great program at New Tech where students are encouraged to donate prom dresses. These dresses will then be loaned out to students who are unable to attain a dress for prom or other school activities.

Every month, the school administrator presents awards to a staff member and student of the month. This month Mrs. Gwaltney has been chosen as the staff member of the month because of her dedication and commitment to all of her students. She's always available and really cares about helping her students succeed.

The student of the month that has been chosen is Rebecca Flaig. Becca is a junior with a great attitude who works very hard. She is a very active student who truly exceeds at everything she does.
