The metamorphosis is complete. The Koffee Korner restaurant, which was razed to the ground in June 2008 and underwent a total reconstruction, is scheduled to reopen today as "Vittles."

With vastly improved lighting and furnishings, the restaurant will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day of the year.

Although the breakfast menu would remain the same for the most part, lunch and dinner will be substantially different, Martinez said.

"We're going for more of a home cooking atmosphere," he said.

Featured items on the updated menu include bacon-wrapped meatloaf, homemade french fries and a new line of specialty salads.

Martinez was especially proud of the bone-in ham steak to be offered for breakfast.

Vittles is twice the size of its predecessor, and seats 127 compared to 82.

The biggest difference is the roominess," owner Joe Martinez said. "There is a lot more elbow room and the kitchen space is fabulous."

Martinez bought Koffee Korner in February 1982, during a different recession. When asked about his outlook for his business during the current recession, Martinez said he would stick to what made the Koffee Korner successful for over 25 years.

"Give the customer something of value for what they're paying and they will return," he said.

I have always enjoyed breakfast here so I decided to try their dinner. HORRIBLE!!!!!!!My daughter and I went here this evening and neither of us had more than a bite of our meals. Had anyone in this establishment had the least bit of concern for my bad expierence I would continue to eat breakfast here and keep in mind their dinner was terrible. No body cared so I will NEVER be back.

Im sorry to disagree with you Likes2EAT but I enjoyed my visit to Vittles. I was greeted instantly eventhough it was busy. And then once I was sat the hostess was very nice and brought my drinks very fast. We ordered our soup (which was amazing) and it was brought out quickly also. Then after a short wait considering how busy they were they brought out our food. My tostada was amazing and my husband seemed to enjoy his chicken fried steak. So I must diagree with you and say Vittles is Amazing!!!
