Anderson hit-and-run suspects flee on foot

A red Pontiac Firebird was driven into an oak tree and through two chain-link fences near the corner of North and Silver Streets in Anderson at 6:13 a.m., Wednesday morning, Dec. 31. Witnesses reported seeing two heavy-set, young men leave the vehicle and run south on Church Street, according to Officer Sean Miller, Anderson Police Department.

The Pontiac, now totaled, was reported stolen from Avila Garcia to CHP later that afternoon, a resident of the Red Hill mobile home park, Miller said.

The amount of property damage done by the vehicle was not yet assessed.
