Four children's quilts were recently presented to the Anderson Police Department for use when dealing with traumatized children. The quilts were made and donated by local members of the Sigma Phi Delta International Sorority.

Sorority members Fran Evans and Marian George, representing Delta Lambda, the local chapter of the sorority, presented the quilts to Police Chief Dale Webb on Dec. 12.

Chapter members make 40 quilts or lap robes each year and donate them to various non-profit agencies including Meals on Wheels, Life Flight, etc., usually around the Christmas holidays.

The idea to donate several children's blankets to the police was initially discussed at a recent Anderson Chamber of Commerce Greeters session where Robyn Pope-Burgess of the police department and Fran Evans were discussing the philanthropic work in which the sorority is involved.

Additional children's blankets will be donated to the Anderson police throughout the year, Evans said.
