The Shasta County Youth/Peer Court is recruiting volunteers between ages 13-18 to serve as jurors, jury forepersons and youth attorneys in real juvenile court proceedings.
Volunteers will learn about the criminaljustice and legal system, gain public speaking and presentation skills, work with other motivated teens, help restore justice to offenders and their victims and make a positive difference in the community.
The youth/peer court is generally held in Redding once a week, and has begun holding court at the Anderson City Council Chambers once a month. For additional information and a court calendar, the website address is www.shastayouthpeercourt.com.
The next training is Jan. 29 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Anderson Teen Center, 2889 East Center Street in Anderson, Ca. Call 244-7194 to reserve a spot.
