A collaboration between the Cottonwood Latinos in Action and the Cottonwood Community Park Board has been formed to address issues facing the Cottonwood Community Park.
Members of Latinos in Action took pictures of the Cottonwood Park and have developed a vision of what they want the park to look like. A photo board was created with these ideas in mind. Some ideas talked about and photographed were more trees, existing lights repaired, addition of several small Bar-B-Que grills, and replacement of the broken tables and benches.
Two community meetings are scheduled to discuss how to improve the park: Jan. 27, 5:30 p.m., and Jan. 28, 8:30 a.m., at the Cottonwood Community Center, 20595 Gas Point Road.
The input of community residents and business owners is welcome. The organization is in need of manpower, equipment, trees and monetary donations.
Already, Latinos in Action and the Cottonwood Community Park Board have held two fundraisers to kick start the funds needed for these improvements. On September 14th the group had a booth at the Latino Family Fair held in Anderson at the Anderson River Park. Wednesday night, October 22nd a Mexican Dinner was held at the Cottonwood Community Center, complete with Ballet Folklorico Dancers.
