ANIMAL TRACKS:
Fish and Game Warden Brian Boyd showed students at East Cottonwood Elementary how to identify tracks from raccoons and other animals.

Brian Boyd, a state Department of Fish and Game warden, spoke at an East Cottonwood Elementary School assembly on Wednesday, Jan. 14.

During the event Boyd taught students about his work as a warden. He also brought Phebe, a two-year-old Malinois to demonstrate how his canine partner helps him with his work.

Students had the opportunity to learn about animal tracking and watch Phebe find objects she was trained to sniff out, such as invasive mussels that could damage the Shasta Dam, ammunition and animal scents.

After the presentation, Boyd answered student questions.
