All Anderson residents, including high school students, with ideas to improve the Anderson park system are welcome to a community meeting Jan. 29, 6 p.m., at the community room in Anderson City Hall, 1887 Howard St.
The last great idea to land on Anderson Parks and Recreation Director Ken Hartman's desk was for the disc golf course that was completed last year in the Anderson River Park, he said. Like the group that proposed the disc golf course, Hartman hopes to hear ideas for park upgrades from groups or individuals dedicated to administering the project financially.
"We'll be working with regular users of the park who have ideas to improve Volonte and Anderson River Park," said Barbara Jackson of Anderson Partnership for Healthy Children. "It's not a place to complain about what they want out of the park. We're looking for proactive contributors."
Hartman would be on hand at the meeting to give input on new ideas.
"It will also provide a chance for staff to talk about financing and how long it takes to do some of these things," Hartman said.
Flyers were circulated through the Anderson schools, Jackson said, to include youth in the planning process.
