Special Events

Mosquito Serenade — Wednesdays, 7 p.m. at Anderson River Park’s KC Grove, 2800 Rupert Rd. in Anderson. On July 8, Savannah Blue plays salute to southern rockers Marshall Tucker, Lynard Skynard and Allman Brothers. On July 15, Tempest plays high-energy Irish and Scottish music. Throw Out Diabetes — July 25-26, 10 a.m.- 10 a.m. A 24-hour game of catch, bounce house and other games at Big League Dreams, 20155 Viking Way, in Redding. Event raises funds to support local children in the Type 1 Diabetes Support Group. Free admission. For information, 357-4200.

Youth Activities

Learn to Swim — Swim lessons involve one of four two-week sessions spanning June 15 to Aug. 7, costing $27 for each 2 week/40-minute session held Monday-Friday. For information, contact Anderson Parks and Recreation at 378-6656.

Summer of Fun — June 22 - July 31, 9 a.m.-12 p.m., weekdays at Anderson River Park, Scout Hall. Free program features arts and crafts, games, physical activities, special guests and more. Afternoon sites on Mon., Tues., Wed. and Fri. at Anderson Heights Elementary and Happy Valley Community Center, 1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. For full days of Summer of Fun, including 7:30-9 a.m. and 12-5:30 p.m., weekdays, for youth 6-12 years old. $55 per week. Tennis Classes — Ongoing classes starting June 15, Mondays 8-9 a.m. Ages 15 years and over. Cost-$10.00 minimum, 2 person. Learn basic tennis skills: how to hold the racket, forehand, backhand, footwork and scoring. Tennis racket needed, some are available. Tennis balls are supplied. Anderson Library Summer Reading Program — Every Friday, 3 p.m., at 3200 W. Center St., in Anderson. On July 10, story time program will feature an active program and creative dance with Nancy Bacciarini.
