"Summer time and the living is easy." I can't remember which movie this song came from, but I don't think it was a farmer who wrote it. It was someone who lived in an air conditioned house and rode in an air conditioned car. The heat is on and I am out the door at 5 a.m. and done working outside by 11 a.m.

I collapse in my rocking chair put a movie on and in 10 minutes I am sound asleep. The heat never bothered me before, but it does now. So I stay in the house doing chores, taking naps, watching old movies, balancing the checkbook and writing my article for the Valley Post. Remember to put sunscreen on, wear a hat, cover up and drink lots and lots of water.

Victoria Smith, owner of the Country Market, has written a book for children that is available at the market. It is called "The Little Mouse." I purchased a copy so I can read it to my grandchildren.

I have wanted to write a book for many years. I have a story line in my head. All I need do is sit down and start writing.

Victoria has inspired me so when I can't sleep at night I think I will get started. I believe that I told you I wanted to start a bucket list. Well, I have by adding "Writing a book."

A bucket list is a list of things you want to do before you die.

Last year I hired The Clean Team. It is a community benefit project of the Stewardship Coalition, which consists of the Good News Rescue Mission; Restoration Enterprises, Red Cross, Providence International and Set Free Services.

They clean up vegetative matter and remove it for fire prevention compliance, windows and gutters, exteriors of buildings, yard, gardens, downed tree services, hauling and disposal, vehicle sales, tractor work such as rototilling, chipping, grass cutting, and vehicle washing, waxing and professional detailing. The outdoors are calling. God bless America. Volunteer, recycle and clean the front of your property to keep our community look nice.
