Two barns, ten vehicles and three acres of vegetation were destroyed by fire on a ranch owned by Dean and Mary Jessen Hammond at about 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 13. The fire at 22356 Jessen Ln. destroyed $500,000 worth of property, according to CAL FIRE spokesperson Linda Galvin, who added that two houses were protected by the firefighters. The fire was still under investigation, although Cottonwood Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Calvin Ciapponi estimated the fire originated from power lines.
