The City of Anderson is teaming up with the Shasta County Economic Development Corporation on a $70,000 grant application that will serve dual purposes, market the now-vacant Millipore building in Anderson to a manufacturer in need of a clean room and also will prepare a complete inventory of shovely-ready sites suitable for industrial use within the city.
The combined grant will be sought from the state's Community Development Block Grant Planning and Technical Assistance fund.
The grant application includes a local match of $6,300 from Millipore building owner Rod Roberts and a similar amount from the City of Anderson to meet the state's requirement for local investor buy-in, explained Acting City Manager Dana Shigley.
The Millipore Corp. building was vacated in May when 100 jobs were consolidated with operations in Danverse, Mass.
