The Anderson AquaGators finished 2nd behind the Redding Swim Team at the Anderson Invitational swim meet held July 18 and 19th at West Valley High School. SOAR was 3rd, followed by Weaverville, Red Bluff and Yreka. The weekend before, July 11 and 12, the Anderson AquaGators won the Red Bluff Invitational meet.
High point winners for the AquaGators from the Anderson Invitational were Matt Bohlin in the 15-16 division, Ashley Moebes in the 15-16 age group, Chris James and Riley Breslin in the 17-18 age group, and Tori Cliff in the 17-18 age group.
Other top 3-point getters were Sean Jordan in the 11-12 boys, Steven Haslam in the 17-18 boys, and Taylor Moebes in the 15 and 16 girls.
Bohlin won the 100-meter free in54.38 and the 200 free in 1:59.50. Ashley Moebes won the 200-meter free in 2:14, the 100-meter breast in 1:12, the 100-meter back in 1:12, the 200-meter I.M. in 2:29 and the 200-meter breast in 2:41.
Her sister Taylor won the 100-meter fly in 1:08 and the 100-meter free in 1:00.
Tori Cliff won the 100-meter breast in 1:19, the 200-meter I.M. in 2:36, the 50-meter free in 27.63, and the 100-meter free in 1:01.55.
Other fast AquaGators were Ridge Peterson (2:36 in the 200-meter free and 1:30 in the 100-meter breast), and Sarah Anderson (2:57 in the 200-meter free and 1:45 in the 100-meter breast).
It's on to NVAL Championships, the most important meet of the season, for the AquaGators, who contend to win their 4th straight seasonal swim team title against 14 other teams in the league.
The Anderson AquaGators send 81 of its swimmers to this meet, held July 30., Aug 1 and 2 at the Redding Aquatic Center. There will be about one thousand swimmers at this 3-day meet.
"It's been a fantastic season. Most kids on the team did two-a-day workouts this season, and all in all, there were 110 kids on the team." AquaGators Head Swim Coach Marc Soares said.
