Letter to the Editor:
On behalf of the Anderson Explodes! organizing committee, we would like to thank everyone who attended and supported this year's event on July 3rd in Anderson.
Anderson Explodes! is a subcommittee of the Anderson Chamber of Commerce. Anderson Explodes! is self supporting, receiving no funds from the Chamber of Commerce or the City of Anderson.
All the money raised for the fireworks show is achieved through several fundraisers. The size of the fireworks show depends on how much money is raised annually.
Anderson Explodes! began 15 years ago, when a group of chamber members wanted to start a 4th of July celebration for the community of Anderson.
The first Anderson Explodes! fireworks show was held in the field behind the Safeway store in Anderson. Due to fire concerns, the second year's show was held in Anderson River Park. Due to space concerns, the third year's show was moved to the Shasta District Fair grounds, where it is still held today.
Moving to the fairgrounds allowed the committee an opportunity to expand the show to more of a festival atmosphere by including exhibit booths, food booths, local entertainment and incorporating auto racing into the day's event. We are pleased to be able to continue these traditions, but welcome several new elements of the show, including the 4H/FFA Community BBQ.
The 4H/FFA Community BBQ Committee purchases animals sold at the Junior Livestock Auction held during the Shasta District Fair and then prepares the meat for the BBQ. Proceeds from the BBQ benefit several local 4H Clubs and FFA Chapters.
A special thank you to Frank and Kathie Muse and the BBQ committee for choosing to join with the Anderson Explodes! celebration.
Without the continued support of companies and individuals, we would not be able to provide the citizens of Anderson with a first class fireworks show celebrating our Independence Day.
A very special thank you to the committee members. We would not be able to do it without you!
Sincerely, Lynn Gillis and Trish Strawn, Co-chairs of Anderson Explodes!

The Fireworks were definitely awesome. We'd never made it a full day affair until this year due to the young age of our children but it was so great that it will continue as a full day celebration annually from now on. We had to pry them away from the water slides to dry them off in time for the fire works. The barbecue was fantastic food as well! Thank you Anderson Explodes!
