APD arrest two following Wal-Mart robbery, fight

Security guards at Wal-Mart caught 18-year old Jacob Steiner, of Redding, trying to steal a bottle of alchohol out of the Anderson store at 10:13 p.m. May 31. Anderson Police Department was called when Steiner fought the guards trying to detain him.

During the fight, Kevin Cole, 18, of Anderson, tried to assist Steiner by shoving and punching at least one guard. Unable to free Steiner, Cole fled the store.

While searching for Cole at 10:56 p.m., Anderson officers responded to a fight involving at least 10 people at the Park Village Apartments at 1597 Bruce St. Three adults were detained with the assistance of sheriff's office and CHP officers.

APD officer Steve Harper recognized Cole among the detainees from viewing the Wal-Mart security video. Wal-Mart security personel came to the apartment complex and identified Cole as the person who attacked.

Both Cole and Steiner were arrested for robbery and battery, as Cole was on probation for robbery in Lassen County. Cole was held at Shasta County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.
