APD makes six DUI arrests on Memorial Day weekend

Anderson Police Department collared six drunk drivers through Memorial Day weekend, police chief Dale Webb said Tuesday. Four of whom were arrested at a DUI checkpoint on Highway 273 south of Ox Yoke Road on Saturday night, between 7 and 11 p.m.

"That was pretty high for us," Webb said, comparing the DUI arrest total to previous Memorial Day weekends.

At the checkpoint, which was performed by APD in conjunction with other area law enforcement agencies, 791 vehicles passed through the checkpoint and 60 vehicles were pulled over for screening. Twenty-seven sobriety tests were administered. APD arrested the following Anderson residents for DUI during the weekend: Melinda Toney Dolan, 21; Chio S. Saelor, 28; and Dianna M. Hindle, 44.

Other law enforcement activities at the DUI checkpoint were as follows, according to Webb:

2 arrested for driving without a license 3 arrested for driving with a suspended license 1 arrested for felony drug possession 1 arrested for misdemeanor drug charge 3 arrested for previous warrants for arrest 14 vehicles towed, 5 were placed on 30-days hold

Increased DUI patrols are also scheduled for Independence Day weekend, according to Shasta County Avoid the Five documentation.
