Blood donors to receive a free pint of ice cream

Anyone donating blood during the Sacred Heart Church blood drive this Sunday, June 7, will receive a coupon for a free Baskin-Robbins ice cream, announced Dannielle Smith of BloodSource.

The drive will take place from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the church's parish hall, 3141 St. Stephans Drive, Anderson.

Blood donations help patients being treated for accidents, routine surgeries and diseases such as cancer, heart disease and hemophilia, Smith said.

To donate, persons must be generally in good health, free from cold symptoms for at least 48, and be at least 17 years old or 16 with parental consent. Donors must also weigh at least 110 pounds.

There is no upper age limit for donating, Smith noted.

Prospective donors must be able to provide identification with a current photograph.
