Local athletes excel in track and field championships

Anderson and West Valley athletes took part in the Track and Field NSCIF Championships at West Valley on Friday, May 29, along with athletes from dozens of other schools from in the Northern Section. Many local athletes placed well in the championship meet. The results for local athletes are as follows:

Mens Results

Victor Timmons, of Anderson, placed sixth in the 200 Meters Varsity Finals with a time of 23.20.

Jake Morales, of West Valley, placed fifth in the 400 Meters Varsity Finals with a time of 52.04.

West Valley's 400 Meter Relay split team placed second: Joel Dumore 49.9, Ronny Hampton 51.6, Ben Bradshaw 51.8, Jake Morales 52.1.

Joel Dumore, of West Valley, placed first in the 110m Hurdles 39" Varsity Finals with a time of 15.09. He also placed first in the 300m Hurdles 36" Varsity Finals with a time of 39.71.

The West Valley 4x100 Relay team placed third. Ben Bradshaw, Jake Morales, Derek Serna and Joel Dumore ran for a time of 43.88.

West Valley's 4x400 Relay team of Ben Bradshaw, Joel Dumore, Jake Morales, Ronny Hampton placed second with a time of 3:25.47.

Zach Miller, of West Valley, placed fifth in the shot put, with a distance of 47-05.50.

Anderson's Derek Nichols, placed first in the discus, with a distance of 170-00.

Tyler Low, of West Valley, placed fifth in the Triple Jump Varsity Finals with a distance of 41-06.75.

Womens Results

Amanda Oliva, of West Valley, placed first in the 100 Meters Varsity Finals with a time of 12.79. She also placed second in the 200 Meters Varsity Finals with a time of 26.34.

West Valley's Cassie Debonis placed seond in the 400 Meters Varsity Finals with a time of 1:00.89. Debonis also took second in the High Jump with a distance of 5-02.00.

The Eagles 400 Meters Relay Split team placed first: Cassie DeBonis 59.7, Taylor Lambert 61.5, Corinne Hinkle 62.5, Michelle Johnson 62.8.

In the 3200 Meters Varsity Finals the Eagles Corissa Storms placed first with 11:32.03. Michelle Johnson took second with 11:43.69.

Taylor Lambert took second in the 100m Hurdles 33" with a time of 16.26. Lambert took first in the 300m Hurdles 30" Varsity Finals with a time of 46.82.

The Eagles 4x100 Relay team of Cassie DeBonis, Taylor Lambert, Amanda Oliva and Maggie Stacey placed first with a time of 49.82.

West Valley's 4x400 Relay team of Cassie DeBonis, Michelle Johnson, Taylor Lambert and Corinne Hinkle also took first with a time of 4:06.58.

Paige Adkins placed third in the Shot Put with a distance of 33-11.25. Adkins also placed fifth in the discus with a distance of 96-09, and took fourth in the Long Jump with a distance fo 15-11.50.

Caitlin Clark took fourth in the Pole Vault with a distance of 9-06.00.
