Army Spec. James R. Pearson, III

Army Spec. James R. Pearson III has returned to Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas, after being deployed to an overseas forward operating base in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Pearson, a Blackhawk helicopter maintenance specialist with three years of military service, is assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 4th Aviation Regiment.

A 2006 graduate from Enterprise High School in Redding, Pearson is the son of Cheryl Pearson of Redding and James R. Pearson, Sr. of Cottonwood.

U.S. Army Pvt. Ryan J. Middlebrooks has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During his nine weeks of training, Middlebrooks studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises. A 2003 graduate of West Valley High School, he is the son of James Middlebrooks of Anderson.
