Joyce Faye Borden
Joyce Faye Borden died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, June 5th, 2009. Having the surety of eternal life through Jesus, Joyce is now free from health problems, whole and happy.
She was born Joyce Faye Barnes to parents Telitha Josephine Pate, and Ewell McGee Barnes in Ennis, Texas on March 26, 1934.
At a young age, Joyce moved from Texas with her parents and only sister, Beverly, to California where she graduated from Fortuna High School in 1951.
In 1954, she married Stanley R. Borden. Joyce worked for Northwest Galleries for many years, and at Little Country Church in the 1980s. Joyce was known for her sense of humor; she enjoyed singing, and she had won competitions and could sing a song containing any word you could think of. She also enjoyed raising her children and working on craft projects.
Her children and grandchildren will cherish the lovely afghans she crocheted. Joyce was greatly loved and will be missed by her surviving sister Beverly Ehrhardt (Auntie Boo), and her children: Lynnette and Mac McCord, Ralph and Karen Borden, Barbara Clements, Beverly Kuhnle, April Borden, and Amy and Robert Findlay. She has 20 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, with more (three) on the way.
Her husband, Stanley, and son, Brian Tracey Borden, preceded her in death. She will also be missed by her lifelong friend Barbara Johnson of Fortuna.
Friends and family are welcome to the graveside service that will be held at the Cottonwood Cemetery on Friday, June 12th, at 3 p.m., with a reception at the family home following.
Richard Milton Cropley
A strong, honorable Christian man went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 5, 2009. Richard Milton Cropley passed away at Mercy Medical Center in Redding. CA after a long illness. Richard was born to Robert and Vivian Cropley on March 24, 1932 in Monterey, CA. He grew up on the Monterey Peninsula, working in his father's mill. After attending Pacific Grove High School, he spent four years in the Air Force. Richard ended up following his father and grandfather in the construction business. Dick was a master carpenter and at one time owned cabinet shops both in Santa Cruz and then in Redding. The many homes and projects he built stretch from San Diego to Portland, OR. He also taught woodworking there at Mt. Hood Community College.
While living on the Monterey Peninsula, he served as assistant Volunteer Fire Chief of Marina. He was also a member of Kiwanis International for over 25 years. He was also a long time member of Little Country Church in Redding.
Richard resided with his wife Patricia in Anderson. He leaves his children Vivian and (Bob) Schall of Houston, TX, Sandi and (Joe) Garcia of Happy Valley, CA, Gary and (Debbie) Cropley of Shasta Lake City, Dan and (Sheila) Cropley of Bath, PA and Bill and (Roxanne) Cropley of Redding, 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Step-children are Diana and (David) Parker, and Janet Prather all of Sacramento, Don and (Tona) Prather of Livermore, 12 step-grandchildren and 30 step-great grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed and always remembered by his family and many friends.
Services will be held at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Igo on Thursday at 12:45 p.m.
Andrew Joseph Krick
Andy, 65, died Friday May 22, 2009 after a battle with cancer. He was born March 9, 1944.
His former employers were Shasta Box Factory, U.S. Plywood, Diamond Lands, Novoply and Roseburg Forest Products.
He is survived by his brother Bob Krick (wife Sondy) of Redding; sisters: Delores (Krueger) Barber of Redding, Leona Graham of Anderson, Geraldine Nichols of Duncombe, Iowa, Norma Barrett of Anderson, Margie Knox (husband Joe) of Redding, CA.
A potluck memorial will be held Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. at the Happy Valley Fire Department, 17475 Palm Ave., Anderson.
Barbara Ann Scott
Barbara Ann Scott, 74, of Anderson died Monday at home. Arrangements are pending at Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel in Anderson (365-5466).
