Happy Valley Pride: June 17, 2009

What do you think of all this rain?

I hope you are enjoying it.

Having rain at this time of the year is like a two edge sword. The plants grow better, but so do the weeds. I have never sprayed for weeds but I will have to. It's getting like a jungle out here, but I'm glad for the rain.

Shasta Lake is filling up, but I heard on the grapevine that the other dams in California are not doing so well. I hope the farmers south of the Delta will get enough water to bring in their crops.

Our welcome sign located on Cloverdale Road and Churn Creek Road was torn down and stolen. It was reported to the sheriff's department, but just like the one on Happy Valley Road going toward Gas Point Road that was stolen about five years ago, we never got it back.

The Happy Valley Volunteer Citizens Patrol voted to have a new one made. Thanks to some caring citizens, we will soon have a new sign.

In the meantime, Happy Valley Pride Day is offering a reward for the return of either sign. Just call Ermal Jones at 357-3829. You may also call me at 357-2416.

When you go to the fair this week, look for the Happy Valley Farm Trail booth.

Thanks to Doug Willis of Fuzzy Lane Farm and Ed Wilkins of Wilkins Family Farm for putting together a beautiful display. The fair theme is "A Red, White and Blue aFair," so we decided to put together a barn-raising display and say "Neighbors Helping Neighbors."

Thanks to all the farmers who gave us canned goods and fresh produce.

Have you gotten your new Farm Trail Map in Anderson? It is available at the Anderson Valley Post, Curves and the Shasta County Health Department. In Happy Valley, it is available at the water company, Discount Feed, The Buzz, Shasta Pizza Co., Bonney's Burger, Happy Valley Nursery, Happy Stop Market and Country Market. In Redding, the maps can be found at the Graphic Emporium and the Redding Visitors Center. Please support our advertisers. Without them, we would not have such a beautiful map.

Take time this week to give thanks. If you are having a hard time, ask the Lord to help you. He has never failed me. Recycle! Smile a lot and do a good deed every day.
