In celebration of June 2009 as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Pride Month, Planned Parenthood: Shasta-Diablo, in collaboration with the NorCal OUTreach project, will participate in three activities in Redding. LGBT Pride Month is celebrated each June to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall riots in New York City, considered the beginning of the modern gay rights movement. In 2000, President Bill Clinton declared June LGBT Pride Month.
<B>Outdoor Movie Night</B> - Oscar-winning movie, Milk on June 19, 7:30 p.m. at Redding Outdoor Convention Center Stage near the Sundial Bridge parking lot.
<B>Pride Festival 2009 </B>- June 27, 1-4 p.m. at Planned Parenthood Redding Health Center, 2935 Bechelli Ln.
<B>Million Gay March </B>- June 28, 12 p.m. from Redding City Hall to downtown mall at South Market St.
