Recognizing that the current RABA fares do not encourage youth ridership, on Monday, June 15, 2009, the Redding Area Bus Authority (RABA) Board of Directors approved a Monthly Youth Pass Program which offers those between the ages of 6 through 17 unlimited use of the fixed route system for one calendar month for $29. This price is almost $20 less than a regular monthly pass.
"At a time when finances are tight and gas prices are high, RABA is offering a break to families for their kids to ride the bus. Without begging for a ride from their parents, kids can now get around town to work, shop, school, visit friends and have fun at a very reasonably priced rate," comments Brian Crane, RABA's Executive Officer.
Many of the middle and high schools are on a RABA route. The buses are inspected, maintained and cleaned daily and drivers are in constant radio contact with the communications center should any problem arise.
RABA is making riding the bus easier and more convenient. Pick up a NEW ride guide or go to RABA's NEW web page, www.RABAride.com, to learn how to ride the bus. Route schedules and bus stops are clearly marked and there's a number to call with questions. You can also email us about your riding experience.
Monthly youth passes will be coming soon, and can be purchased at RABA's Downtown Transit Center office at 1530 Yuba Street, by calling 241-2877 or by mail. The ability to pay using Visa or MasterCard is coming soon.
