B-ball camp hones skills : Anderson Valley Post

Not only learning how to dribble and shoot at the Youth Basketball Camp presented by Anderson Parks and Recreation, the 25 children learned a new motto from camp coach Tim Klaiber:

"Have fun, show respect, and work hard," children responded when Klaiber prompted them for the three rules of basketball camp.

"The only trouble I've had with them is the kids from Cottonwood don't want to gather around the A (in the middle of the Anderson Union High School gym floor) and say, 'Go Cubs.' They'd rather say 'Eagles,'" said Klaiber, a special education teacher at AUHS for 18 years.

The one week course, which ended June 25, was a primer for youth in 2nd through 8th grades to learn basketball mechanics.

"It's basically like a one-hour piano lesson," Klaiber said of the basketball camp. "We teach skills that they can take home and practice."
