As the West Valley High School football squad prepares for the 2009 season, Coach Greg Grandell looks toward a balanced offense between the team's running and passing game.

"Our team is young this year, and we have a ways to go. We just need to play a balanced game and work together. We have some great returning players," Grandell said.

This years team is made up of 25 seniors, 20 juniors and has potentially the best offensive line it has had in years, Grandell said. The team trains five days a week doing strength and speed training, then two days a week passing the ball around.

A defensive training camp at Nevada Union High School is also planned for the Eagles this summer. After the camp, they will not be able to suit up again until August 10 when all the other schools participating in the league start practice for the season.

Grandell's goal for the Eagles this season is winning the section and league titles.
