The West Valley Eagles boys and girls soccer teams ended the season on a positive note - a trip to the playoffs. This is something that both the boys and girls coaches have envisioned for their teams from the beginning on the season.
The boys team, coached by Tim Minami, played an 8-1-1 season. In February, the Eagles advanced to the playoffs, with their first game against Anderson. They won that game 4-0 and continued on to their next playoff game against Corning. They lost this game 1-3. The team will be graduating six seniors.
The Lady Eagles ended their season seeded third in the league playoffs, with a record of 8-1-1. They advanced to the playoffs beating Corning 3-0 in early February. They then advanced to the second round of the playoffs against Lassen, tying the team 0-0 in quadruple overtime, resulting in penalty kicks to decide who would move on to play the next round. There are three seniors that will be graduating this year.
Other goals for both coaches were for their teams to have fun, work hard, learn team work, and improve their skills.
