So many thoughts are running through my head I wonder if my head will explode.
What a mess our nation is in. Our state is going down the drain and it seems as if all that our elected representatives want to do is throw money at everything.
Spending is not the answer.
All I can say is, I don't run my house that way or I would be out on the street by now.
Why do we want instant gratification?
We never seem to be satisfied even when we get what we went right away.
What ever happen to self-denial?
Lent has started, so ask yourself, Can I give up something for 40 days?
Let's say you go without soda, which you drink every day. What are some of the benefits? I do not know the price of a soda, but let's say it's a $1.
That's $40 and you will lose a pound or two. If you give that $40 to a person you know who is having a hard time, you will receive a blessing. Something happens when you share.
The water situation is very bad, but I don't hear anything on the news about how our legislature is going to help the farmers.
Wake up people!
California grows about one third of the food for our country. Will we start importing food like we do oil?
Won't this increase our carbon footprint?
Is the Endangered Species Act taking over common sense?
I see Redding is not going to ration water to their customers. There are a lot of communities going to be hurting. I think if the people of Redding knew of the difficulties, they would share some of their water. I can't blame them just because they are unaware of the problem.
I am just as guilty. Who has the time to attend all these meetings and understand what is going on. I am on the water board in Happy Valley and during the past week, I have attended at least six meetings.
Last week in the Valley Post, I encouraged everyone to write to his or her representatives so get your head out of the sand and get involved.
I want to thank the Lord for the beautiful rain, but Lord, we could use some more.
The Bureau of Reclamation said if the rains continue, then at the end of March they will let us know if we can have a little more water. Wildlife will still get 100 percent, but homes might receive 60 percent and ag 10 percent if the rains continue.
I will be going to the Small Farm Conference in Sacramento I will report to you next week. Be good, volunteer, and recycle.
