changes:
Co-owner Leticia Ramos shows off a new menu for Casa Cuevas, a Mexican restaurant in Anderson that was previously operated as a Casa Ramos eatery.

The Casa Ramos Mexican restaurant in Anderson changed names and leadership as husband-and-wife team Carlos Cuevas and Leticia Ramos have split paths with Marco Ramos, previously the majority stakeholder at 2830 Childress Dr.

Casa Ramos closed at 9 p.m. on a recent Sunday and reopened at 11 a.m. the following Monday under its new name, La Casa Cuevas.

Marco Ramos, who owned 60 percent of the restaurant, wanted to close the restaurant permanently due to a slumping economy as the building's lease was expiring, according to Leticia Ramos.

"The employees were all sad because they were not going to have a job anymore," Leticia Ramos said. "The restaurant is good. Why close? We need work."

The restaurant slimmed its work staff down to 10 employees including the two owners before the change-over, she said.

"We are open the same hours with the same cooking, but better prices," Carlos Cuevas said.

Marco Ramos was not immediately available for a statement.
