The Shasta College governing board appointed a new provisional board member to represent parts of Cottonwood and Anderson.
Duane K. Miller took office on Feb. 18 to govern Trustee Area B. He will serve until the November 2009 election.
Miller is an advocate for community colleges, having earned his associate in arts degree from Yuba College and his bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from California State University, Chico.
The board gives direction to college administrators on three campuses serving 10,500 students.
