32 make trip to Challenge of the Champions Rodeo

Thirty-two north state cowboys and cowgirls have been working hard this season, to make the trip to Plymouth for the Challenge of the Champions Rodeo, set for March 20-22.

To qualify for Challenge of the Champions, the cowboy or cowgirl must earn the most points in their events beginning with the first rodeo in September and continuing on through the first rodeo in February.

In each event, the top three cowboys and cowgirls will compete. This year, there are openings for alternates as some of the districts do not have enough competitors to send to the competition.

The Challenge of the Champions Rodeo is a way to gauge the level of competition from other districts and a chance to ride and rope some of the same livestock that will be used at the state finals competition coming up in June.

Competitors from District One, which includes the South County, have returned home from this event victorious for many years, hence the saying, "District One is second to none."

This year's Challenge of the Champions Rodeo team will include the following local entrants competing in their top event.
